MOVEMENT
Exercise is a transformative practice that nurtures the body, mind, and spirit, creating a harmonious balance within ourselves. Physically, regular exercise strengthens muscles, improves cardiovascular health, and enhances flexibility, fostering overall vitality. Mentally, it releases endorphins, reducing stress, anxiety, and depression, promoting mental clarity and focus. On a deeper level, exercise can be a spiritual experience, connecting us with our inner selves and the world around us. The discipline and dedication required in exercise cultivate resilience and determination, fostering personal growth and self-awareness. Whether it's a peaceful yoga session or an invigorating run, exercise offers a sanctuary to strengthen our bodies, clear our minds, and nourish our souls, creating a profound sense of well-being and inner peace.
Free workouts, plans and programs can be found all over the internet, made with knowledgable friends or researched and developed on your own. There are so many ways to access free resources when it comes to exercise we nearly have no excuse except maybe overwhelm. To go a step further and minimize the overwhelm consider something with complete programs. I use the BODI platform; tons of programs, LIVE workouts, cycle studio and more plus it houses a whole lot of nutrition info and recipes. Obviously, this is not the only option, so shop around and find what works for you; at the gym workouts, at home workouts, outdoor, etc… Regardless of what platform you decide to use, use it! Your body was made to move.
NUTRITION
Nutrition is the cornerstone of a healthy and fulfilling life. It fuels our bodies, nourishes our minds, and impacts our overall well-being. Proper nutrition provides the essential nutrients, vitamins, and minerals needed for optimal physical and cognitive function. It supports a robust immune system, helps maintain a healthy weight, and reduces the risk of chronic diseases. Moreover, good nutrition plays a vital role in improving mood, promoting mental clarity, and enhancing our ability to handle daily challenges. By making conscious and balanced food choices, we empower ourselves to lead vibrant, energetic lives, and pave the way for a brighter and more prosperous future. Embracing the importance of nutrition is an investment in our health, happiness, and longevity.
Over the past century, the quality of our food has undergone a significant shift, and unfortunately, not for the better. Modern agricultural practices, food processing, and transportation have contributed to a decline in the nutrient density of our food. Soil depletion due to intensive farming methods has led to reduced levels of essential minerals and vitamins in crops. Furthermore, the widespread use of chemical pesticides and fertilizers has altered the nutritional profile of produce. The emphasis on mass production and long shelf life has led to the cultivation of varieties that prioritize appearance and transportability over nutritional content. As a result, the fruits, vegetables, and grains we consume today often fall short in providing the same nutrient levels that were abundant in food a century ago. This decline in nutrient density poses challenges for maintaining optimal health.
Supplements can be valuable tools for filling in nutritional gaps in our diet. While a balanced and varied diet was the best way to obtain essential nutrients supplements can provide targeted nutrients, vitamins, and minerals that may be lacking, promoting overall health and well-being. However, it's essential to use supplements as a complement to a healthy diet rather than a substitute. Consulting with a healthcare professional or a registered dietitian can help identify specific nutritional needs and ensure safe and effective supplement use.
To support your body’s needs truly the old food pyramid needs to be kicked to the curb. Focus on protien first, veggies and fruits next, healthy fats(because fats don’t make you fat) and carbs while drinking half our body’s weight in ounces daily of water. If you want your body to preform for you, you must give it what it needs.
MINDSET MATTERS
Your diet isn’t just what you eat but everything you consume; from television to books and music, podcasts, radio, what we allow people to tell us about ourselves and even the words we speak in our head. To change how we talk to ourselves and raise our standards of what what’s acceptable we have to start by changing what we consume. Our body won’t go where the mind doesn’t lead it.
